I think it’s clear that the root of Chris’ problems start at his relationship with his Mum, and the effect that having his Stepdad sharing his Mums affection is having on him.
This was the Chris that we all remember, happy, content, and feeling loved. His pleading with his Mum to stay was so sad to see. Chris is one of life’s genuine, caring and polite guy’s. Even when he was getting frustrated with ‘horny Mary’ he still had the manners to say ‘please’ when shouting at her to get her shoes on 🙂
Those that are out to destroy him, really need to take a good long hard look at themselves.
